After the rich literary and music program which marked the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Sándor Weöres's birth and the 25th anniversary of his death, the stage of the Festival Theatre will once again feature the work of this world-class author. It is no coincidence that this event from the Poetry Recitals at Müpa Budapest series (which began in late 2016) will take place in a different venue: there are very few poets who can compete with Weöres in terms of popularity. Weöres was an angelically pure and childlike soul, who grew up in a generation of poets and wrote close to 2,000 timeless poems. In his foreward to Weöres's 1981 Egybegyűjtött írások (Collected writings), Ágota Steiner perfectly captured the essence of the poet: 'Sándor Weöres's referential virtuoso forms serve as a timely expression of the wholeness of human existence. This leads to an illusory kind of impersonality; the poet as an individual gradually disappears, melting away into his work and becoming a prism, distributing the light which passes through him. He becomes the agent of mediation through which the universe flows.”
When it comes to the event's editor and the director-performer, this schematically faithful presentation of Weöres's hugely influential and significant body of work could hardly be in better hands: the rich poetry, virtuosity of forms and protean-creative force ofAndrás Ferenc Kovács, who resides in Marosvásárhely (Târgu Mureș) in Romania, make him one of the most faithful heirs to Sándor Weöres's work, while Pál Mácsai is considered one of the most authentic interpreters on the Hungarian cultural scene.

After earning tremendous critical and popular acclaim at last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, IMA is returning to Müpa Budapest, again playing in a tent set up next to the building.
It is probably impossible to summarize this miraculous story of Mowgli, Bagheera who escaped from the cage of the human society, the wise Baloo, the mysterious Kaa or the vengeful Shere Khan. The Jungle Book is about birth and death, solitude and partnership, about the magic of youth – so everything which can happen with a kid who had grown up with wolves.
Ádám Fischer's career as a conductor, which began more than half a century ago, is linked to his homeland in many ways: the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Hungarian State Opera, Müpa Budapest and the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra are all important chapters in his work.
